My friend Caroline and I had the privilege to go to Moscow for 3 days. We went for work, but of course, we wouldn’t be ourselves if we wouldn’t combine it with some old fashion chilling and fun! We got picked up by a local cab, our jaws dropped when it started snowing the very moment we got in the cab! But the cab driver’s impressive music system distracted me from the blizzard that was knocking on the car windows. * side eye *
It took us an hour and a half to get at the hotel. The hotel wasn’t that bad at all. We stayed in the Vega Hotel , and it was pretty decent. The majority spoke English with a funny KGB accent ( lol ! )
We had a little bar downstairs at the lobby, which we proudly claimed. We had some caviar with pancakes, beers, and of course shots of vodka! Oh yes..we didn’t forget about the vodka. We went at it the first night, and then had a hard time getting up in the morning for all these meetings we had scheduled.
We travelled trough Moscow by metro. It’s the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to travel. Traffic is crazy in Moscow, and you’re always stuck because its HUGE and crowded. What would you expect with a population of more than 17 million! The city of Moscow is considered a small country.
Moscow is a diverse city with a good dose of the old communist leftovers, the dominance of the Russian Orthodox Church claiming its presence. All this combined with modern luxury. Its everywhere, in the malls, The luxury brands, the food, the cars, the women. I did feel that the majority of people is kind of distant, rude and can come over very harsh. But that’s on the streets. In the restaurants and bars everybody is super friendly.
Hopefully the next time we go to Moscow, we won’t be swamped by meetings. We didn’t have the chance to really mingle and go clubbing.. so I’m rating the city with 3 pumps!
