Plus size models worsen the nation’s obesity epidemic?!

“Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”

- Kate Moss

Many of us ridicule women who strive to be a size 0. Recently, Brittish webshop Zazzle caused outrage by launching a T-shirt collection for toddlers and baby’s with Kate Moss’ outrageous motto: “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”. Eating disorder experts have called for a ban on adverts for the ‘appalling’ T-shirts which are sold in sizes to fit primary school-aged children and babies.

Plus size models worsen the nation’s obesity epidemic.

Despite many slamming size zero models, this passed week, a new report warns that getting rid of super-skinny models could worsen the nation’s obesity epidemic. Researchers Dr Davide Dragone and Dr Luca Savorelli, from the University of Bologna, Italy claim that having plus size models on the runway, will increase unhealthy eating habits. In their report they argue that increasing the size of the fashion models will alter people’s perception of the ideal weight. Obesity currently costs NHS billions of dollars. Having Plus size models as a role model, will double this figure in 2050.

Bring back 90′s models!

Personally, I believe plus size models (size 14 and up) aren’t “making us fat”. Junkfood and bad eating habits are making us fat. Hell, sometimes dieting makes us fat. I also don’t believe size 0 models “are giving us an eating disorder’.  Either models aren’t attractive to me. Bring back 90′s models, who where healthy and toned like Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell and Helena Christensen! Now, they were role models!

Back in the 90's women were allowed to be a healthy size. (Helena Christensen)
